Shame on you for reporting on the alleged Art Bell letter without the first bit of fact-checking!
In your Sunday 1 July issue, Leah Salterio wrote "The [racist] article is written by a certain Art Bell... ." The simplest attempt at journalism would have revealed that Art Bell denied writing that letter THREE YEARS AGO, and has loudly and persistently avowed his respect of the Filipino people and their culture since this attempt at character assassination was aimed at Mr Bell.
Your behavior -- publishing this libel -- has me wondering about your position on character assassination.
Do the right thing -- print an apology, and send Ms Salterio back to journalism school.
