The fact that this ridiculous lie could be resurrected and reprinted in
the Philippines is just another nail in the coffin of 'journalistic
integrity'. It isn't a syndrome limited to the United States. We see
that baseless garbage is packaged as news and placed on display around
the globe. Anyone can be attacked, anyone libelled. No need for
confirmation. No need for opposing comments. Just write what sounds
good, and truth be damned!
Art Bell should take this rag to court and squeeze it dry. Maybe someday
the news will be the news again. Maybe someday editorials will be
restricted to the editorial page again. Maybe someday truth and honesty
will be valued commodities again. We must demand, in every forum
possible, that this be so!
