Mabuhay!
In
reference to Leah Salterio by T.H. Lane: "You singlehandedly enraged an entire nation of proud Filipino's over a hoax
perpetuated quite some time ago which had absolutely no basis in fact."
I agree with Lane's mockery of Salterio's ramblings. I must, however,
dissent with the way he/she should impute that our entire nation has been
outraged by this. Mind her that a lot of us do have a sense of sobriety.
And even more of us who do not even bother to read her articles let alone be
irked by it.
I personally convey my apologies to Art Bell and his family over this
matter. Perhaps they can take consolation in the fact that those who have
not written or clicked on the mailto: link reactively actually believe in
such rubbish, and apparently they are an overwhelming majority. Much in the
same sense that a majority of the threats are likely to be more fire than
flame, or in this case just flames.
She may well have ended her career, but please note, that we do take these
things seriously and like the "western world", we revel in our liberties to
chastise grievously erring personalities. That is how we keep our free
press healthy, though I believe it needs a good hook to the mid-section to
get it balanced every now and then.
I think her (Salterio) career just took a sudden dip as it should given the
amount of integrity and diligence she's shown.
