James Coulter (jcoulter@digitaldimension.com) writes:

I work for a visual effects studio named Digital Dimension in Burbank, CA, but what I saw when I stepped out for lunch today was no visual effect! I know you've heard of the wild fires happening in California because of the severe drought, and we got a first-hand look at one just northeast of our office. Friend and co-worker Jason Crosby had the presence of mind to get some digital photos of the event. I ran inside and grabbed our fish-eye lens adapter so you can get a sense of the massive cloud of smoke generated by the fire. The fire has since died down, but everything outside is lit with an orange cast as the sun is filtered through the smoke cloud.
